Huawei Ascend P1, D1 and Honor 2 should get their Jelly Bean updates soon

Huawei had an ambitious goal for 2012 – to sell 60 million smartphones. And they had some very interesting phones like Ascend P1 and D1 Quad, to do it with.
They failed.
Largely due to the production problems of their own CPU, which delayed the release of their Ascend D1 Quad flagship by months. But also because they were slow to upgrade their phones from Android ICS to Jelly Bean. In fact – more than a year from their release, Ascend P1, D1 and other Huawei 2012 phones are still running on ICS.

Fortunately, Huawei is finally starting to get the importance of timely upgrades for its main devices. Their CEO just went to Weibo microblogging service to announce that their 2012 devices – Huawei Ascend D1, P1 and Honor 2 will be soon upgraded to Android Jelly Bean 4.2.

That ‘s the good news.
No so good news, especially to those who loved almost stock Android appearance of last year’s Huawei phones, they will be getting Emontion 1.6 UI tacked on Jelly Bean upgrade.
Still, its good to see Huawei finally getting more proactive with their phone updates. And Jelly Bean 4.2 should make Ascend P1 a very competitive cheap Android phone even a year after its release. via
