Google’s new Nexus 7 (Asus K009) probably photographed

Expected to go on sale in July, Google’s next-generation Nexus 7 tablet has seemingly appeared in a photo over at the Bluetooth SIG. The SIG does not say the tablet it’s showing is the new Nexus 7, but the Asus K009. However, according to the FCC, which has recently approved the K009, this is an LTE-capable Nexus device.

Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 go on sale. Android 4.2 update now rolling out for Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus

Today is Nexus day, so to speak. Google’s new Nexus 4 smartphone (made by LG) and Nexus 10 tablet (made by Samsung) are slowly becoming available to order from Google’s Play Store in the US, the UK, Canada, Germany, France, Spain, and Australia. In the US, the new hardware will be up for grabs starting at 9 AM PT, so in less than two hours.

Google Nexus 7 3G launched by Three UK

Three has become the first British network to directly sell the Google Nexus 7 3G. According to this press release, the 3G capable tablet can be found at Three both online, and in retail stores.
The network is offering the Google Nexus 7 3G for £19.99 per month, and a one-off upfront cost of £49 (5GB of monthly data is included).

Cheap Asus Memo Pad ME172V Android Jelly Bean tablet announced

Asus has officially announced a new Android tablet: the Memo Pad ME172V, first seen back in December.
Like the Acer Iconia B (unveiled last week), the Memo Pad ME172V is an entry-level device that tries to win the hearts of those who can’t afford to pay too much for a tablet – not even $199 (the price of Google’s Nexus 7, which is also made by Asus).

Asus announces the 5″ 1080p PadFone Infinity with 10.1″ tablet dock, 7″ FonePad with Intel CPU

Asus has finished its Mobile World Congress press conference not long ago, and in it the Taiwanese company unveiled two new devices: the FonePad and the PadFone Infinity. So it’s proved once more how much it loves those two words and combining them in any shape or form.
The Asus PadFone Infinity is the successor to the PadFone 2 and embodies the exact same concept.

Asus PadFone 2 will be available in the UK on March 1 for £599.99

Well, this is interesting. Asus announced that its PadFone 2 phone+tablet combo will be out in the UK on March 1, priced at £599.99.
This is the PadFone 2 we’re talking about here, keep that in mind. This device was announced in October of last year. This isn’t the PadFone Infinity that the Taiwanese company unveiled just a few hours ago.
So it looks like Asus has got itself a PadFone range.

Asus MeMO Pad Smart 10 will be available in the US on March 5 for $299

The 10-inch Asus MeMO Pad, or Asus MeMO Pad Smart 10, or whatever else the Taiwanese company will call it next, is due for release in the United States very soon. In just four short days, that is.
This tablet will be in stores on March 5, so on Tuesday, and it will set you back just $299. For a 10-inch tablet, that’s pretty great, but as you’d expect, the specs are in tune with the small price.

Asus FonePad arrives in Europe this month, priced at €265 in Russia

Asus took the wraps off of the FonePad at Mobile World Congress last week. The FonePad is the Taiwanese company’s first device to sport an Intel processor. It’s a 7-inch tablet that can make phone calls as well, if ever you’ll find yourself needing such functionality.
We’ve been told that Asus will release the FonePad in the UK in late Q2 (which probably means ‘in June’), but apparently that won’t be the first territory to get the new tablet.

New Asus-made Google Nexus 7 coming in July with Qualcomm CPU

This definitely isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the next Nexus 7 tablet switching from an Nvidia chipset to one made by Qualcomm. In fact, it’s not even the second time. It’s the third.
Today, though, the info comes from Reuters and its sources (two in this case), and that makes the news just a teeny tiny bit more believable than what unnamed “supply chain sources” usually claim.

Asus Transformer Pad Infinity gets updated to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean

While most mobile device makers are currently struggling to bring Android 4.1 updates to their products, Asus is basically in a league of its own in this regard, especially compared to other tablet makers. The Taiwanese company started updating the Transformer Pad 300 to Android 4.2 last month, and now the rollout has started for the Transformer Pad Infinity as well.

7-inch Asus MeMO Pad now available in the US for $149

The 7-inch Asus MeMO Pad tablet can now be purchased in the US. It is one of the cheapest brand-name Android tablets ever made, as it can be yours for just $149. As you’d expect though, for that price there are a few pretty big caveats.
The biggest of those is probably the fact that this MeMO Pad has a VIA single-core 1 GHz processor.

Asus FonePad will be out in the UK on April 26 for £179.99. Pre-orders start on Friday

The Asus FonePad will become available in the UK on April 26 at Carphone Warehouse, Amazon, and Sainsbury’s. These three retailers should all start taking pre-orders for Asus’ first Intel-powered tablet on April 12, which is this coming Friday.

Asus FonePad gets better CPU, more storage

The Asus FonePad just got a hardware upgrade. In its native Taiwan, Asus launched a new version of the tablet today, one that comes with a beefed-up processor and more internal storage space.
Whereas the original FonePad announced back in February comes with a 1.2 GHz Intel Atom Z2420 processor, the new and improved model swaps that up with a Z2460 clocked at 1.6 GHz. Furthermore, there’s double the storage inside too – 32 GB compared to ‘just’ 16 GB.

Asus Memo Pad HD possibly launching at Computex 2013

Asus launched its ultra-cheap 7-inch Memo Pad Android tablet earlier this year, and it looks like it already has a successor to it.
Reportedly called Asus Memo Pad HD, the upcoming tablet will have a 7 inch IPS display with 1280 x 720 pixels. This almost puts it on par with Google’s Nexus 7 (also manufactured by Asus), which sports a 7 inch display with 1280 x 800 pixels.

It’s Computex week in Taiwan’s capital Taipei, and Asus wanted to make sure it wouldn’t go unnoticed at the event. So it’s taken to announcing many new devices, such as the all-new Transformer Pad Infinity, the Memo Pad HD 7, the Memo Pad FHD 10, and the Fonepad Note FHD 6.
Convoluted names aside, these are some interesting products.

Google’s second generation Nexus 7 (16GB) may cost $229

While the second-generation Nexus 7 tablet was not announced by Google at I/O 2013 last month, it is coming later his year – that’s pretty much a given.
DigiTimes has it that the new Nexus 7 will be available starting July, with its 16GB version costing $229. The website notes that Google wants “to avoid competing directly against entry-level tablets.” This is a slightly different approach for the Mountain View giant, which is selling the current Nexus 7 for prices starting at $199.

Asus MeMO Pad Smart 10 has a successor in the works, coming soon with better specs

The 10-inch MeMO Pad (also called MeMO Pad Smart 10 in some markets) is Asus’ budget full-size tablet offering. It brings decent enough specs to a very nice price point, but the Taiwanese company is apparently at work on its successor already. Furthermore, this new MeMO Pad 10 (let’s hope it won’t be called the MeMO Pad Smart 10 2 or anything like that) is due to get unveiled sometime this summer, according to Techblog.gr.
