The Asus FonePad
will become available in the UK on April 26 at Carphone Warehouse,
Amazon, and Sainsbury’s. These three retailers should all start taking
pre-orders for Asus’ first Intel-powered tablet on April 12, which is
this coming Friday.
If you’re wondering how much you’ll need to pay for the FonePad, know that it won’t be much. £179.99, to be precise. That’s the exact same price charged for the Nexus 7 with 16 GB of internal storage (the same amount that the FonePad comes with).
The Nexus 7 can’t make phone calls, nor does it have 3G data connectivity in that version, or a microSD card slot. On the other hand, the FonePad has a 1.2 GHz Intel Atom Z2420 processor that probably is no match for the Nexus 7′s Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core.
