Like the Acer Iconia B (unveiled last week), the Memo Pad ME172V is an entry-level device that tries to win the hearts of those who can’t afford to pay too much for a tablet – not even $199 (the price of Google’s Nexus 7, which is also made by Asus).

The new Asus Memo Pad Features:
  • 7 inch display (with 1024 x 600 pixels
  • 140-degree wide viewing angles
  • 350-nit brightness)
  • “Asus SonicMaster audio and MaxxAudio for high-quality sound”
  • Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n
  • 1MP front-facing camera
  • 1GHz VIA WM8950 processor
  • Mali-400 GPU
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 8GB / 16GB of internal memory
  • 5GB free Asus WebStorage
  • MicroSD card support (up to 32GB)
  • A 4,270 mAh battery
  • The tablet weighs 370 grams
  • measures 196.2 x 119.2 x 11.2 mm
  • Running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
The Memo Pad ME172V will be available in select markets starting this month, for a suggested retail price of $149. Customers will be able to buy it in three color versions: Sugar White, Titanium Gray or Cherry Pink.
Later this year, Asus could launch its first tablet powered by an Intel Atom processor: the ME371MG. This should also run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, sporting a 7 inch display with 1280 x 800 pixels. We’ll bring more details as soon as we get them.via
