Asus MeMO Pad Smart 10 has a successor in the works, coming soon with better specs

The 10-inch MeMO Pad (also called MeMO Pad Smart 10 in some markets) is Asus’ budget full-size tablet offering. It brings decent enough specs to a very nice price point, but the Taiwanese company is apparently at work on its successor already. Furthermore, this new MeMO Pad 10 (let’s hope it won’t be called the MeMO Pad Smart 10 2 or anything like that) is due to get unveiled sometime this summer, according to Techblog.gr.

From the same source comes a purported list of specs of the upcoming tablet.
  • It looks like the new 10-inch MeMO Pad will have a Full HD touchscreen
  • Quad-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor
  • 1 GB of RAM
  • 13 MP rear camera
  • 1.2 MP front camera
  • 16 GB of built-in storage space
  • MicroSD card slot
  • Wi-Fi
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth
  • Support for 4G LTE
  • A 5,050 mAh battery
  • It should run Android Jelly Bean
Though which exact variation is unknown at this point. From the perspective of specs, this model is clearly a step up compared to the original. In fact, in some regards (the rear camera’s amount of megapixels, for example), it’s a huge jump up. The processor is still quad-core, though this time Qualcomm was preferred and not Nvidia, and the screen now gets a resolution bump. The battery capacity is a tad disappointing, but other than that this is shaping up to be one of the best (if not the best) midrange Android tablets for the rest of the year. Which makes us excited about what Asus may be cooking up for its next flagship tablet.
Of course, do take all these specs with a pinch of salt, since they’re unconfirmed right now. But stay tuned, and we’ll keep you posted.
