Install Ubuntu on a Nexus device Touch

How to install Ubuntu on a Nexus device Touch, Along with the release of Ubuntu 13.10, Canonical launched what it considers the stable version of its mobile operating system, Ubuntu for Phones, also known as Ubuntu Touch. This new mobile operating system comes to standing up to the present as Android or iOS, but with several drawbacks, for example, limited only Nexus devices or lack of customers. In this article I'll show how we can install Ubuntu on our Nexus Touch.

The first thing you need is to be Ubuntu users, with many advanced knowledge, since most of the progress is made through terminal.

Preparing the system.

We install the following packages on our Ubuntu to start developing with our Nexus.
  • sudo add-apt-repository ppa: phablet-team/tools
  • sudo apt-get update
  • sudo apt-get install phablet-tools android-tools-android-tools adb-fastboot

Preparing our Nexus.

In our Nexus, we must ensure we have enabled USB debugging option. We are going to Settings> Phone Info and press 7 times on "build number" to unlock development options.
Once these options enabled, you access to Settings> Development options and activate the option "USB Debugging".
We also have the bootloader unlocked on your smartphone to carry out this process correctly.

Create backup of our Android.

Before we continue we will create a backup of your device. To do this connect via USB to our Ubuntu on the console and type out the following parameter:
  • adb backup-apk-shared-all
In this way we will create a file with all our programs, settings, and our OS we can restore it later if you do not like the new operating system by typing:
  • adb restore backup.ab
In this way our nexus will be like we have not done anything with it.

Install Ubuntu on our Nexus Touch

To complete the installation, you must enter the following parameter:
  • phablet-flash sudo ubuntu-system-no-backup
The process will take a while. We must wait without disconnecting the device from the PC or interrupt pending progress and we see Ubuntu running on your Nexus Touch.
From here, we can start using the new operating system from Canonical. In case you want to return to Android will restore the backup we created earlier and your smartphone will be like at the time of the creation of the copy.
For more information we refer to the Ubuntu website .
Have you tried Ubuntu Touch? What do you think of the new operating system from Canonical? Via
