New Nexus 5 Images Reveal Android 4.4 KitKat Lockscreen And UI Changes

Google's upcoming Nexus 5 Smartphone and Android 4.4 KitKat are creating a ton of buzz. And for good reason too. The Nexus 5 will allegedly be priced at $299, which is peanuts for a device powered by a Snapdragon 800 SoC and packing a 5-inch 1080p display, and coming from a company like Google and manufactured by Korean phone makers LG.

Today, new leaked images revealed to us the changes made to the lockscreen and homescreen UI in Android 4.4 KitKat. Starting with the Nexus 5, you can quickly launch the camera app by hitting the button tucked away in the right bottom corner of the display, in addition to accessing it by swiping your screen to the right.
The homescreen UI too has been changed a bit, with the app tray and widgets space separated by dots (instead of a line) which show us which page we are on. Also, the colorful wallpapers are definitely a turn on (colorful, chocolaty, Google is like a 5-year old kid). Also, the app drawer now uses your wallpaper as the background image instead of a black background. Much appreciated Google. A black background is just boring, and phones need to be fun!
Google is expected to launch Android 4.4 KitKat and the Nexus 5 on October 15th. Not much longer now.
