Sony Xperia ZR won’t be released in the UK, Germany, France. Xperia L available now in some countries

It looks like Sony’s latest waterproof Android smartphone, the Xperia ZR (officially announces yesterday) will not be launched in several important European markets.
Clove is reporting that Sony has no plans to introduce the ZR in the UK, while Xperia Blog has discovered that this is also the case for France and Germany.

For the moment, only Sony Hong Kong has confirmed the release of the Xperia ZR. Sony said the handset would be available later this quarter, so we’ll see soon what countries are getting it.
Sure enough, you can already buy the 5 inch Xperia Z pretty much anywhere in the world – but this is more expensive than the 4.6 inch Xperia ZR will be. Plus, the ZR is IP58-certified, which means it’s better protected against water than the Z (IP57).
Meanwhile, another new Sony Android handset has become available in some countries as of today. It’s the affordable Xperia L. This can be bought in the UK (one day earlier than expected) for £228, in Germany for €299, and in Sweden for 2,695 Krona.

The Xperia L Features:
  • Running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean,
  • 4.3 Inch Display With 854 x 480 Pixels
  • 8MP Rear Camera
  • 1GB of RAM, 8GB of Expandable Internal Memory
  • Dual-Core 1GHz Qualcomm Processor
  • 1,750 mAh Battery.
