iPhone 5 lands at Virgin Mobile on June 28

Virgin Mobile is getting ready to offer the iPhone 5. The smartphone will become available at the prepaid carrier in exactly one week from today, on June 28. Virgin has offered previous iPhones, so this isn’t surprising. That said, it’s still good to see Apple’s wares appear on prepaid carriers for the select few who want to choose something different from the subsidized ‘on-contract’ route.

However, as you may have expected, getting the iPhone 5 from a prepaid carrier won’t come cheap. In fact, it will cost you $549.99 (for the 16 GB model) excluding taxes. On the other hand, you can pair it with a $30 per month plan that gives you unlimited messaging and 4G LTE data (with 2.5 GB each month at “full speed”). That’s incredibly cheap, so it might make the high upfront cost worth it. Or not. You decide.
Both the black and white variations will be up for grabs, as will the 32 and 64 GB models of the iPhone 5. For these you’ll have to pay $649.99 and $749.99, respectively (and again, excluding taxes).
