Windows Phone 8 variant of HTC One coming soon?

Almost everyone is praising HTC’s One for being an excellent Android smartphone, and that’s mainly because the Taiwanese company has managed to find a near flawless combination of design, specs, and software capabilities. So it should come as no surprise that HTC might want to launch another handset like it, but with Windows Phone 8 on board.

According to Neowin, HTC is indeed working on a new WP8 device that will be similar, although not identical to the One. This should feature a display that measures between 4 and 5 inches, Beats Audio, and “a mostly metal body.” An Ultrapixel camera could be included, too.
Reportedly, the upcoming handset will be announced in the fall, and should be on sale before the end of the year, running Windows Phone 8 GDR3 at launch. What you’re seeing below is a mock-up of the smartphone (made by Neowin), so the real thing will most probably not look like this.

HTC has already released two Windows Phone 8 handsets:
The 8X and the cheaper 8S. They have been available since late 2012, both being pretty successful. Well, as successful as a WP8 device can be in a market dominated by Android and Apple.
Until now, HTC may have sold more than 5 million One units around the world.
