There’s a new HTC smartphone that received Wi-Fi certification (PDF) a few days ago, and it might turn out to be an HTC One for Verizon Wireless.
The smartphone’s model number is PN073XX, and we know that it features LTE connectivity, and dual band Wi-Fi. Blog of Mobile (in Japanese) – which has a very good track record when it comes to rumors and speculations – assumes the PN073XX corresponds to the model number “M7_WLV”, and is a Verizon-bound version of the One (for the record, AT&T’s HTC One is the PN07120).
Verizon is currently offering the HTC Android DNA
for free on contract (until May 21). The existence of the android DNA is
believed to be the reason why the largest North American carrier didn’t
pick up the HTC One from the beginning. But maybe things will chance
soon – we’ll certainly let you know. The One is obviously superior to
the android DNA, although on paper they’re not that different.
Besides AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile have also launched the HTC One in the US last month.
Update: Verizon has a “special announcement” prepared for May 22 at CTIA 2013. It could be related to the HTC One, right?
